Private-label ignition leads

GG Profits manufactures high-voltage ignition lead sets under the customer's own brand. The customer chooses the 7 mm cable core and insulation, the printing on the cable, the boots, the unit and outer packaging, and receives a catalogue adapted to the brand. Lead times range from 1 week for standard packaging to about 1 month for a catalogue program.

To prepare production of high-voltage ignition lead sets under your own brand, all the aspects listed below need to be agreed.

Cable

We can use 7 mm diameter cable with the following types of core:

• wire-wound
• Kevlar, carbon or so-called silicone core
• copper

The cable insulation can be single-layer (EPDM, Silisen or silicone) or double-layer (EPDM/EPDM, EPDM/silicone). The insulation can be any colour and can match the customer's colour scheme (e.g. logo). Black, yellow and dark blue are our standard colours.

Printing on the cable

The text is printed on the cable using a special printing wheel. A standard print can be used, or one designed to the customer's requirements. The text is 2.5 mm high and up to 270 mm long. Usually the same text is repeated two or three times around the wheel, with 15–30 mm gaps, e.g.:

The text above is about 113 mm long with a gap of about 22 mm, and it appears twice on the wheel.

The print can include graphics and any text. We recommend sans-serif fonts such as Arial. Bold and/or italic text is fine, but underlining should be avoided. Please note that graphics (symbol, logo) are reproduced in one colour only.

Making a printing wheel takes 10 days. The text can be printed in any colour; white, black, silver and gold are standard. Other colours, depending on the cable insulation material and the colour itself, can be available within up to 1 month (usually about 2 weeks).

Boots

We use various boots, which fall into two categories:

• universal boots
• application-specific boots

With universal boots, the customer has a wide choice of materials (EPDM, SEBS, silicone) and shapes – a simple spark plug boot is the easiest example.

With application-specific boots, or rather assemblies, the choice is fairly limited, because such terminals are highly specialised and usually designed for one type of engine only.

Unit packaging

We can make unit packaging for ignition lead sets to the customer's requirements. Typical packaging types and sizes are shown below. With standard solutions (sizes as given), the first batch of packaging takes 1 week to prepare. If a new packaging design has to be developed, it takes about 3–5 weeks. We recommend Baltica 400 g/m² or MCM 450 g/m² board.

Type 1

• Size A – A 106 mm, B 52 mm, H 300 mm (343 mm with hanging tab)
• Size B – A 106 mm, B 66 mm, H 300 mm (333 mm with hanging tab)

Type 2

• Size A – A 122 mm, B 61 mm, H 302 mm
• Size B – A 106 mm, B 50 mm, H 300 mm
• Size C – A 106 mm, B 66 mm, H 300 mm

Type 3

• Size – A 53 mm, B 170 mm, H 190 mm

Type 4

• Size – A 150 mm, B 70 mm, H 195 mm

Type 5 (plastic bag)

Plastic bags can be supplied printed or plain. The approximate size of a standard bag is 254 mm wide by 360 mm long. The bag can have a header card with a Euro hang hole at the top; the standard header is 254 mm wide by 60 mm high when folded. The header can be plain white – for sticking on an identification label, bar code, etc. – or printed with any design supplied by the customer.

Outer packaging

Catalogue

We have one of the most thoroughly developed catalogues covering European, Japanese and American makes. We adapt the catalogue to the customer's requirements in terms of set numbering and graphic layout, and supply it as an Excel, Access or Word file, as preferred. Preparing such a catalogue takes about 2 weeks, at no cost to the customer.

We can also supply the catalogue as a computer program with the customer's own graphics. This version takes about 1 month to prepare. These lead times run from receipt of the materials needed (graphic templates, image files, sketches). We also prepare catalogues for specific applications, e.g.:

• Japanese cars,
• Korean cars,
• commercial vehicles.
